Ribbons and braids are more modern today, but thanks to our jacquard looms the quality and rendering remain unmatched.
and its history
Created in the 1970s, the Bourdons establishments set up in Jonzieux as close as possible to the ancestral know-how already existing in this village.
In 1990, Michel Sahuc, son of « battandier » (Manufacturer of shutters and shuttles for ribbon looms) bought the company. With his experience as an export sales director in the ribbon making business, he developped it internationaly particularly in the United States.
In 2013, Arnaud Sahuc took over the family business and continued to perpetuate this exceptional know-how.
In 2018 the company was recognized by the EPV label (living heritage company).
Production methods and tools
and technical developments
Thus we can combine the old techniques that made the fame of the trimmings with the new technologies. This symbiosis allows us to innovate and always renew ourselves today.
The workshop covers 1,500 m2 on the ground. All trimmings techniques are represented there:
• Jacquard weaving with traditional looms
from 1 to 16 pieces allow us to process
orders according to their quantity
• Jacquard looms with 1,2,3 or 4 shuttles depending on the complexity of the articles
• Muller looms
• Crochet looms
• Braiding looms
• Cord looms and sewing machines
• Fringe loom with braided head
• Traditional hand cord twister….
The man, for a long time, knew how to weave, to finish his work he knotted the threads between them, this is how the first fringe was born. Since then, trimmings have always accompanied the fabric.
The passementerie is questioned; in a mechanized, rationalized world, what is its place? has it not become a little outdated, does it not correspond to a certain regret of the past? What path should it take and what will become of it tomorrow?
Passementerie transformed and adapted to its time will always be very much alive; she will become the element, seemingly superfluous, but whose presence will be synonymous with warmth and personality. The trimmings of tomorrow will be the bouquet of flowers that we will not be able to do without …
